Earlier in the year, a wonderful group of friends from my tennis group gave me a very meaningful gift. A gift of life. A tree of my choice, in memory of my beautiful boy. John and I chose a spectacular Japanese Maple called Sherwood Flame and planted it in a special place right in the front yard. During the summer, the leaves are a dazzling shade of maroon, especially eye catching when the sunlight shines through. The leaves are faded now as fall has arrived, but it's a magnificent specimen of a tree.
A few days ago, I was weeding around the base of the tree and noticed the leaves are starting to fall. I picked up a small handful and immediately noticed their graceful expression.
